FAQ

Can you help my facility prepare for an upcoming survey?

Yes, as a courtesy we are happy to come to your facility and provide a free consultation to help you and your team prepare for survey.

Our consultation services include a detailed chart audit and corrective plan focusing on the following areas:

  • Gradual dose reduction

  • Missing or late psychiatric consultations

  • Inappropriate usage of psychotropic medication

  • Inappropriate usage of psychiatric diagnosis

How can you help my facility reduce the administrative burden of managing psychiatric consultations?

Our support team works closely with your staff to assure that every patient in need of psychiatric support receives it. We do this by carefully monitoring the follow-up schedule as well as checking the patient roster regularly for patients on psychiatric medications who may need consultation.

Can you help my team learn to better use non-drug interventions to manage dementia-related behaviors?

Yes. We have created a user friendly manual based on the New York Department of Health Edge Program, which outlines simple and evidence-based non-drug interventions for dementia-related behaviors. In addition to providing this manual to our long term care facilities, we would be happy to provide a free in-service training that orients your staff to this program.

Can you provide references?

Yes, we would be happy to provide references from other nursing home leaders with whom we partner.

What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?

A psychiatric nurse practitioner is an advanced practice nurse with specialized education and training in psychiatry. Like psychiatrists, they are able to assess and diagnosis mental health conditions, as well as prescribe or adjust medication.

Unlike family or adult nurse practitioners, a psychiatric nurse practitioner focuses exclusively on psychiatry during their training and clinical practice.

They are able to offer a broad range of psychiatric services to facilities and patients because their multi-disciplinary training incorporates skill sets from psychology, social work and psychiatry. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners work in collaboration with our psychiatrists.
